Incorporation is the first step. Keeping the company organised each year is the next. Administrative renewal, accounts and tax work are different tasks. Preparing early makes it easier to handle each deadline.
The NAR1 annual return
An active private company files its annual return within 42 days after its incorporation anniversary. This updates company information at the Companies Registry; it is not a tax return. Late filing attracts higher registration fees and may have further consequences. [1]
Accounts and audit
Eligibility for simplified reporting does not remove the audit requirement. The Companies Registry distinguishes companies with legal dormant status. Low sales should therefore not be treated as an automatic exemption. [2]
A simple document routine
- Keep sales and purchase invoices in separate folders.
- Archive statements for company accounts.
- Match payments to their invoices.
- Flag changes to addresses, directors or ownership.
- Forward correspondence and information requests promptly.
This is a practical preparation method. The final document list depends on your business and the work your accounting professionals are carrying out.
